With constant efforts in policy and governance, gradual improvements have been seen at China's sex ratio at birth (SRB) level, which has been high for over 40 years. China Population and Development Research Center (CPDRC) has, with the support of the UNFPA China Office, prompted a review of China's response to its skewed SRB. Since China's SRB deviates from what is considered the normal level, these exploratory practices cannot be cited as China's "successful experience". However, as part of the global reactions to the high SRB, the Chinese cases accumulated through these practices can certainly be used as a reference model by other countries facing the similar challenges.
